Hanging around Maui

This is my favorite tree in the whole world, partly because it’s the perfect place to string a hammock over the water and just sway the day away as the waves lap the shore underneath.  It’s the kind of thing a travel magazine would write about – or even film.

One day while we were enjoying the whales and the sunset, a couple walked over and asked if they could film our hammock.  Turns out they were employed by the Travel Channel and wanted to film the scene for a final segment in a special they were finishing up about Hawaii – That’s how nice this spot is!  We watched as the cameraman lined up the shot and the hostess made her final comments, signing off the segment with a toss of the lei into the water at sunset with our little hammock swaying behind it.  We were so proud (sniff sniff).  OK, enough with the sappiness but relaxing in that hammock with the gentle surf rolling in and out, dappled shade from the keawe tree, a few whales jumping off in the distance and the smell of charcoal and lighter fluid, okay the chicken too, is my idea of a stay-cation!
